Yes, they are not actual songs but instrumentals from the anime Vision of Escaflowne. If you listen to both of them, you'll notice they have the same melody, having been composed and arranged by the same Japanese artist/cellist Hajime Mizoguchi. IMO, Escaflowne has one of the best soundtracks, and these two pieces are no exception. I have absolute love for both but honestly, I like Hitomi Theme more than Eyes. Probably due to the former working up more instruments. While Eyes relied heavily on strings ensemble, Hitomi Theme has guitar, piano, pizzicato strings, and do I hear bandurria (or something similar)? Or is it just the guitar being played with very fast picking, I'm not sure.Gah! Gomen, my musical knowledge is quite limited, save for rock band music...
Every time I hear them, they never fail to make me close my eyes -- getting enveloped in feelings of tranquility and nostalgia. They immediately make me imagine of Gaea (the setting of Escaflowne), and transports me to that different world. I love listening to them with great-sounding ear/headphones, with my player on a bit higher than normal volume, 'cause I want for all of the music to fill my senses...
I guess this only shows how much I love the anime and its music, so much that I would want to incorporate them in the significant moments of my life. And in this case, death. Eheheh...

Ja ne!
