30-Day Song Challenge: Day 10

Day 10: A song that makes you fall asleep.

"Fields of Gold" by Eva Cassidy.

Let me just make it clear that I don't mean anything negative, given the rule. 'Cause you know how boring things tend to make you, well, fall asleep. Right? But definitely not the case for this song. Otherwise, I won't listen to it nor I would like it.

I actually prefer this cover more than the Sting original. The acoustic guitar is perfect, accompanied by Miss Cassidy's voice that is so powerful yet calm and soothing. This song is very peaceful and serene, and when I hear it, I imagine those 'fields of barley' at sunset. Yeah, just like in the lyrics.

Fields of Gold by Eva Cassidy

You’ll remember me when the west wind moves
Among the fields of barley
You can tell the sun in his jealous sky
When we walked in fields of gold

So she took her love for to gaze a while
Among the fields of barley
In his arms she fell as her hair came down
Among the fields of gold

Will you stay with me will you be my love
Among the fields of barley
And you can tell the sun in his jealous sky
When we walked in fields of gold

I never made promises lightly
There have been some that I’ve broken
But I swear in the days still left
We’ll walk in fields of gold
We’ll walk in fields of gold

I never made promises lightly
There have been some that I’ve broken
But I swear in the days still left
We’ll walk in fields of gold
We’ll walk in fields of gold

Many years have passed since those summer days
Among the fields of barley
See the children run as the sun goes down
As you lie in fields of gold

You’ll remember me when the west wind moves
Among the fields of barley
You can tell the sun in his jealous sky
When we walked in fields of gold
When we walked in fields of gold
When we walked in fields of gold
