Getting Ready for the Christmas Party! Part 4
11:15 PMAnd tomorrow's the BIG DAY!
Honestly, I think our Christmas party this year would be the best by far. In 2008, I performed in a dance number with some teammates. 2009 was 'blah' for me. I didn't attend in 2010. And now, 2011... I will be performing as bassist in a rock band! Would you believe that? Certainly I can't! Well, at first...
It's really a long story, but to sum it up, I 'm thankful to my team's point person Rhyan! He's the one who recommended me to the other guys who happen to be his friends. I also thank my bandmates Donny (lead guitar), Bryan (rhythm guitar), Tyrone (vocals), and Chris (drums), for giving me the chance, trusting and believing that we can do this. I thank Ekai for being my PA (our joke, as she accompanies me to practice and carries my bag, while I lug my heavy bass Ai-chan in the gig bag) I'm also very thankful to Paul, who taught me how to play bass, helping to fuel my passion in music. And of course, the Lord who gave me this opportunity and blessing, and the ability to play a musical instrument... I've always wanted to become part of a band, and here it is!

I think this is the best photo I have of the band, hahaha! Tyrone, Donny, Bryan, me, and Chris... |
When I look back at how we started and went on to our journey of becoming a band, I smile (and sometimes laugh) especially when reading our conversations through email threads peppered by loads of humor! And it's so funny 'cause before I met the guys on our first practice (save for Chris who was my previous teammate), I was sooo nervous and anxious that I couldn't even finish my lunches at work! I was really scared of failing and rejection, thinking what if I make a mistake or if they find me unfit to play bass? But fortunately, everything went smoothly and as they say, the rest is history...
Our music is not perfect, but we are doing our best, and definitely enjoying it! It's been more than a month since I met the guys and I'd say I'll miss them after all of these. Here's hoping we can get more chances of playing as a band! But I guess this is not the time to be thinking about this, because the real thing will be happening tomorrow!
Good luck to us guys! Let's go, The Pineapple Experience!
By the way, we'll be doing covers of Learn to Fly by Foo Fighters, Use Somebody by Kings of Leon, Meant to Live by Switchfoot, and a mash-up of Love Song by 311 / Bullet in the Head by Rage Against the Machine!
Good luck to us guys! Let's go, The Pineapple Experience!
